I was not worthy to receive Your perfect love
Yet one day I was blessed by Your saving grace
As I was disfigured many times by worldly sin
I’m thankful for Your salvation I now taste

Not a perfect son who should receive any favor
When for my many sins in life I should have died
But I am made humble Lord by this love I received
The kind which makes tears fall freely deep inside

I am the example of what Your kindness can do
To one who embraces the living word they need
For in the past, I would never drink the pure water
Living in Your Spirit which each day now sets me free

Yet while still being a sinner and prodigal son
Who by your mercy and grace was led to the path
I pushed onward until I came to Your open door
Finding pure forgiveness which would always last

Now the words which my heart will express to You
Speaking humbly from my lips in a wholesome way
Is to tell how blessed my world has been made
Being counted as one of Your son’s this Father’s day.

For our Eternal Father
