Many tears fell down from my eyes
They streamed slowly down my cheeks
It felt like my heart was truly empty
As in my bed, I only wanted to sleep

The thoughts which lived inside my mind
Now would make me feel less than complete
I felt like I could not last any longer today
As a certain sadness now hurt me so deep

I was drained of everything in my heart
All the happiness that once lived inside
I found I had nothing else to give
And where I now stood I wanted to die

I was too ashamed to reach out to You
Being stubborn I would soon turn away
I saw my selfishness rear its ugly head
As a life promise now seemed to slip away

I found myself now only wanting to sleep
Wanting to hide in the darkness of night
As sin wanted to have its way with my life
Leaving me afraid to walk into Your light

I prayed my last thought would be of freedom
From the shackles of worldly sin which stayed
And I knelt by my bed in a deep dark sadness
Praying for your healing hands to come my way

And yet as time passed by so slowly tonight
As each second of my life would slowly move
I found myself now ready to succumb to death
Feeling that my life I was now ready to lose

For tormenting feelings come when one sins
As one’s soul, the enemy tries to steal away
And the pain of spiritual separation from You
Seems to cause each breath of life not to stay

Yet while in silent prayer, my spirit looked upward
As I searched for the forgiving grace I would need
Knowing if I sincerely repented of my sin this night
With Your mercy, my spiritual death won’t come to be.

I Colossians 13-14
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against
you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But
if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father
will not forgive your sins.

Ephesians 1:7
In him, we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches
of God’s grace.
